The Process
The process starts with lots of communication:
- Where is the piece for and how much "use" will it get?
- What part of the country will it reside in? (This relates to climatic changes that will effect its structure.)
- Are there other pieces of furniture in the room that it needs to coordinate with?
- Is this to celebrate a certain event?
- Have you found pictures of different features on other pieces of furniture you would like to have included? This is always helpful in design, as the saying goes, "A picture is worth a thousand words."
- Do you have a budget in mind?
- Then the true design potion.
- Size
- Style
- Wood choice
- Features
- Color
From this point, sketches can be made, color samples created, sample turnings, and if needed, a 3-D rendering can be made to better help in understanding overall proportions.
